WHAT IS

HYDROPONICS ?

Hydroponics is the cultivation of living plants in nutrient-rich aerated water. By eliminating soil, Hydroponics offers a number of advantages.

NUTRIENT FILM TECHNIQUE (NFT)

A hydroponic technique wherein a shallow stream of water containing all the dissolved nutrients required for plant growth is re-circulated past the bare roots of plants in a square or circular duct/channel. This allows for all the plants in the system to receive constant, uniform access to the required nutrients. This technique is best suited for leafy greens, herbs and similar smaller plants; the preferred technique to be used in large-scale greenhouses.

HYBRID NFT

Combining the principles of Nutrient Film Technique and Shallow Water Culture, all the pipes are partially filled with the nutrient solution, at all times. This is best suited for tropical areas with a high temperature variance and areas with regular power interruptions.

DEEP WATER CULTURE (DWC)

A simple, effective hydroponics system that works by suspending the plants’ roots directly into a highly oxygenated nutrient solution – considered the ‘purest form of Hydroponics’. DWC is best suited for larger plants: fruiting vegetables, fruits and flowers.
